Depth is not the same as darkness.

Familiar waters. Familiar light.
If the sea feels like home, these colors have a familiar rhythm: deep water, small signals, and the warmth of a lamp after dark. It is a nautical association, not a claim that every sailor sees or feels the same way.
Solarized lovers will recognize the blue-green shadows, warm ivory, and purposeful accents: our mist text and warm emphasis are its base1 and base2. DeepSeaFoam keeps that family resemblance, then gives the workspace more depth and the signals the vividness of a well-loved terminal.

Maritime and Coastguard Agency, night-lookout guidance — a reminder that lighting matters, not evidence for any particular palette.
Comfort remains personal. A 2013 visual-acuity and proofreading study reported “A positive polarity advantage was found for both age groups.” That means dark text on light backgrounds. None of these sources tests DeepSeaFoam; WCAG contrast guidance informs our text/background pairings, not a universal eye-health promise.
